The Main Foyer

The focal point of this portion of the tour has to be the magnificent curved mahogany staircase that leads up to the second floor. The solid mahogany balusters, treads and newel post, all carved with intricate Eastlake decoration, are a testament to the wealth of the Blaikie family at the time the front of the house was built.
The Foyer, itself an artistic statement with its painted mural commemorating the shipbuilding legacy of the house, is crowned with mahogany moldings that surround the original brass chandelier.
